Pear Almond Breakfast Pizza
A delicious brunch recipe from chef Janine MacLachlan.
1 loaf frozen pizza dough, thawed overnight in the refrigerator
4 oz. cream cheese, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
4 Tbsp. (1/2 stick) unsalted butter
1/4 cup brown sugar
4 slightly ripe pears, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
1/2 cup whole almonds
Glaze (optional)2 Tbsp. apple jelly, melted
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Butter a 9" x 13" jellyroll pan or 14" round pizza pan and press dough into the pan, crimping slightly to form a raised edge. Do not let rise. Scatter the cream cheese chunks over the dough.
In large sauti pan, melt butter over medium-high heat. Add sugar and cinnamon and continue to heat until mixture caramelizes slightly. Add pears and almonds and sauti until pears are slightly softened, about six minutes.
Arrange pears and almonds on pizza dough. Bake until bread dough is golden around the edges, about 25-30 minutes. If using glaze, brush melted apple jelly over entire pizza, including crust, for a nice shine. Serve warm or at room temperature.
